5/8/08 WE GOT em on point

This Saturday at the Annual Banquet Dave Houseal will be making a special Pre-Release offer of his latest book. Those present will be able to get their hands on "WE GOT em on point" for $25 each.

04/16/08 City Bangs 2 Alarms

This evening the City Fire was dispatched to a structure fire on the 1800 block of Regina St. Units arrived on scene to quickly upgrade to the first alarm. Before the crew that was already in station knew the City upgraded to the 2s. The Engine pulled with 3 and arrived on scene to find the fire all but out already. Crews reported to Chief Kunkle and were shortly diverted to stand-by in City Station 2. After loading up for another city field trip the Quint was sitting at Station 2 along with Engine 40, Truck 456, and Rescue 44. Units were all available within 2 hours.

4/12/08 Engine 1 and the 08 Fleet

Friday the new Quantum Pierce Engine arrived. The new engine has 1000 gallons of water and will hopefully carry 2000 feet of Large Diameter Hose. It is already being called the "Water Hog" by some. Station 37-1 now has 3100 gallons in station. Crews were around Saturday and decided to gather the fleet for a group photo before the Darley went to Progress.

04/13/2008 Accident in the one Box

Today around lunch crews were hit for an accident with confinement at Front and Bergner. Engine one AOS with a SUV on top of another vehicle and resting on a third. The driver of the SUV was the only one still in the vehicle. Crews from the Rescue and Engine worked together and got the vehicle stabilized with struts and the driver ended up being an EMS refusal.

03/31/08 Vehicle into Arden Courts

As the Rescue crew began to clean up from the Marysville fire, County dispatched Company 37 back out the door for a vehicle into a structure. Rescue 37 was on scene within minutes to find a compact car sitting in the grass in front of Arden Courts Assisted Living. Civil Engineer/Firefighter Greg Rogalski was already on scene to assist in judging the structural integrity of the building. After evaluating the two rooms involved the decision was made to condemn one of the rooms due to the extent of damage to a load bearing wall. Crews returned available within the hour.

03/31/08 Rescue and Tanker Head to Marysville

Today around lunch time the tanker and rescue were called upon by Perry County to assist Perry 6 with a structure fire. Crews had arrived on location with fire through the roof and needed water fast. The tanker set up with Shermansdales pumper/tanker and started the supply while the rescue sent man-power up to staging. The Rescue crew assisted Perry and other units with; Forcible Entry, Fire Suppression, Hooking Ceilings, and even a little time as RIT. After a short time more tankers were called to the scene to make a full second alarm compliment. Units returned to the station after a few hours

3/27/2008 Structural Burn Class

Today members completed their SBS Class at HACC. Members attacked basement and second and third floor fires while improving their search and rescue skills.

03/22/2008 E37-1 Easter Bunny Assist

Today E37-1 and crew assisted the 193rd Special Operations Wing and the Harrisburg Red Knights Chapter 15 with delivering stuffed easter bunnies to children at area Hospitals and the Ronald McDonald House in Hershey. Other motorcycle groups braved the frigid temps and departed Harrisburg to deliver over 700 stuffed animals to 19 separate Hospitals in Central PA including Philadelphia, Danville, and Ephrata. The members of Rescue Fire Company would like to wish everyone a Happy Easter.

03/21/2008 Engine Update

Today members of the company returned from Wisconsin where they visited the Pierce plant and performed the final inspection on the new Engine 37-1. The new Engine is a 2008 Pierce Quantum, with a 1000gal tank 1500 gpm pump and lots of LDH.

03/18/08 81 South at rest stop accident 4 entrapped

Rescue 37 was dispatched to assist with a vehicle accident with 4 people entrapped. Rescue 37 set up LZ for Life Lion in the 81 south lanes and assisted Rescues 36,35,and 48 with extraction of driver and rider rear of driver.
